Spicy-Ganza

Good news for those who like extremely spicy stuff, this SzeChuan Style Spicy Hotpot will surely spice up your whole dining experience! We actually visited the place before the university's break actually started, partly to celebrate the break if the semester, and the upcoming Mid-Autumn festival, kill two birds with one stone! HAHA

It was a tiring day as it was studio's submission and presentation that day, but anyway, managed to get through it, and we ended up in the city. Despite the down pouring rain, nothing could stop us from getting to out destination, do anything for food! HAHA

Well, as soon as we were there, it was clear that the restaurant is not only known to us, check out that crowd, it was the same condition throughout the night, and even when we were about to leave, that was like around 10-ish, there were still some occupied tables in the restaurant. Something you will not find much in really Aussie-restaurants! I think it is an Asian thing! HAHA

We ordered this noodle, which I forgot what the name was, but it was really good! The noodles were soft and tender, with some elasticity upon biting it! And this soup was oily with a mild spice in it, it just goes slurp... down the throat! DELICIOUS!

Now I did mentioned Hotpot did I? In Malaysia we call it steamboat, but what ever it is called, that night's pot/boat was really nice! Now for those who are mad for spicy stuff, just go for the whole spicy pot, not necessary to take this Ying-Yang pot, though the original soup was really nice as well. But yeah, if you are looking for a cough or an excitement of spice in every mouth-full of food you take, go for the spicy one, the spiciest of spicy hot pot I have ever taken I reckon!

Now, obviously hot pot involves a lot of meat-eating, so really sorry for the Vegans, despite the fact that See Kuan was complaining that there was not enough vege and greens, most of us just kept eating and eating, stuffing the face with meat, ah, carnivorous meal!

What is the point of coming out to eat and not having a group picture? The whole point of eating, is to get together! HAHA... Su Sheng from left, Min Sean, Lee Shean, Kum Tak, ME, See Kuan, Wen Liang and...eh..where is Xiao Pan?

Wondering why is he sleeping? He didn'y sleep for two days straight! I rather finish and wrap up my work as soon as possible next time, two days! Can you imagine?

The Classy Lidnt's

It has been some time since I posted on some nice places to dine and hang out. But the fact is, I have been around visiting some really nice restaurants, but most of the time the laziness just drives me away from posting them.... =)

However, a visit to Lindt's Cafe at Darling Harbour yesterday really urged me to post it straight away this morning. Thanks very much to fact that this fellow Taylorian senior that came to Sydney from Canberra, we get to visit this wonderful place. The night actually started with a dine out at Takeru's, it's really a good restaurant I reckon. But I will leave that for another day, this post is about Lindt's!

Well, after our dinner, fellow Hong Leong actually suggested to have a coffee or something, to get everyone sat together, and talk and chat a bit in a warmth environment. We actually spent sometime sitting around Darling Harbour waiting for Hong Leong's mates before going there, so time was actually running out as we arrived there about 11pm. (It closes at 12am!)

Goodie! The wait and the walk was worthwhile after all. The cafe was classy and elegant, with all the glossy finishes, advocating it's sense of class and prestige. In contrary to Max Brenner's at Paddington, this is indeed very different! Wondering why there is no picture to compliment what I am talking about? They do not allow it! What a waste! But in a way, hey, come and have a look for yourself! XD

Check out their Hot Choco! Free from Max's funky and 'at the face' attitude! Frankly speaking, all the things here focus more on quality and class, which I think in a way ties them down a bit on the more formal and serious approach in presenting their products. Having said, it does not mean it is on the downside! Seriously, their choco is quite good!

Looks like those drinks you get at the Mamak's back in Malaysia? No it's NOT! You can't call the waitress 'tangachi'! lol Anyway, what you are looking at is Fui Kiat's Iced Choco, he said it is too sweet, not sure about that, I only tried a scoop! Haha. For those who visit there, I do recommend the Iced Choco or Mocha with Ice Cream, or simply the hot choco, the latter is a lot more fun!

Check out Wen Liang's Mocha, the presentation is not bad, thanks to those Barista skills! Again, this is not teh tarik with choco flakes on top!

Now I mentioned about the Hot Choco which is more fun... Hehe I ordered Rich Dark as usual, personal preference! XD Check out the outcome just below!

Tadahhhh! How is it? Not bad I reckon! ^^ Self-taught! Thanks to my visits to Max! Haha the next time, I'll attempt the leaf motif, if I succeed in doing so, they should give me a Barista cert!

Tasting time! Yummy! ^^ Seriously, you cannot compare the Lindt's and Max's. They are way too different, even the quality, aroma and texture of the choco is different. They are both good, in their own way, I reckon. But if you ask around, I think most people still prefer Max, sorry Lindt, no offence! I still like your choc! Haha

Strong Waves...Prelude to Hurricane

Everyone has been talking about this place and I was thinking "Gosh I've got to go and try it this holiday", and I did! Finally got to taste the pork rib that a lot people were talking about! It was quite an effort to get everyone to get together as everyone was busy with their own plans and stuff, but yeah, we finally went there! I personally placed the reservation a day before we went there and I was wondering what makes this place so famous that it can be fully booked for the whole day? Luckily there was an empty slot before 7.30pm for that day and me and my mates could go for that... The point is, the place is really famous! and it was crowded within 30 minutes of operation, we know that as we were the first table of customers that day, and we saw how the crowd fill in the tables so fast, that you wouldn't believe it, and even when we left, people were continuously flocking to the restaurant, Gosh, thank God I placed a reservation...

Anyway, as mentioned in the title, we (well, Derrick and me for that matter) witnessed the strong waves at Bondi Beach that day right before we went to the restaurant. We were there early as we were looking for vacant jobs at Bondi Junction, which we then thought of going to the beach earlier, as I never went there before. Anyway, good experience! The strong wind was hustling and pushing the waves relatively strong that day, my hair was all blown up...HaHa. I've got to come back to the beach during summer or something, as this place is famous for sunbathing and other beach activities, so it would be pretty much a guys heaven I reckon (oops, I meant beach lovers) HaHaHa...








As you could see, the restaurant was pretty empty when we got there, without the crowd and people, the interior design is pretty good I reckon. Ofcourse, when people come into the picture, it shows another face of the place, the livelihood of it, how people from various places are brought together just because of one thing, GOOD FOOD! HaHa

Alritey, here is what we came for, the ribs, the full rack, looks good huh? sorry to vegans, this is quite vulgar, there really isn't much we could do... The taste was really special, I reckon they have Rosemary, Honey, BBQ sauce and more...hmmm... It would really make a big difference if there was some green veggies or salad to compliment it...but other than that, THUMBS UP!

Sorry again to Vegans! Check out the ribs! I wonder what they do with all the bones? I reckon that each table in the restaurant ordered at least one plate of the ribs (most had 2 to 4). Each full rack comes with about 24 ribs? that makes up to more that 1000 rib bones per night! What do they do with it?! Is there enough dogs in the area to consume all the bones? Hmm I reckon they just dump it at some large dump site... HaHa

Thanks heaps to the lovely waitress, HaHaHa... It's San Rou and Ham at the far end. They ordered grill chicken and lamp respectively. Ham was busy eating the whole night and didn't get to speak much. Probably it's too tasty I guess? HaHaHa...

Leaving the place, people still queing to get their hands on their very one ribs. I guess it's worthwhile the wait...

21, the step into adulthood...

Oh well, finally it's my turn to step into adulthood, bye bye to any relavance to the 'teenage category'. Anyway, was fortunate to have a good bunch of friends to celebrate with me, really appreciate what they did for me... well, we had a dinner at this Thai restaurant, I really like to rate it really good as it is my birthday, but the food was really only slightly above average due to a few reasons. But anyway, let's not mention the lame things, and focus on the good stuff! A memorable birthday to remember!

The whole gang! Thanks heaps to the waiter, birthdays are good excuses to gathering and reunions! HAHA!

What so special with dish? Hmm it was burning in flame that day, but obviously it turned out that the flames are not there... I wonder why...

Chocolate day

Wei Kiat, we have Max Brenner in Sydney as well, and this is just one of it! Hmm hopefully I can visit all the stores someday..HAHA. Anyway, this is just a small store at David Jones, I reckon other bigger outlets would have a lot more to offer, but anyway, the chocolate was good enough, and there was heaps of people flocking to the place...

Now you must wonder what happened to the cute little mug of chocolate? Hmm I asked the same question as well, apparently they ran out of the mugs? Too many customers at one time! But anyway, the tradional thick dark chocolate was just nice for me, the other normal one that Manda ordered was too sweet I reckon... lolz

More and more to come....couldn't get all the names, and was really reluctant to spend on them, despite my craz for choco.... =( But just by looking at them was satisfying...

So much to take, so little time! was in a rush for window shopping, the girls just couldn't wait...HAHAHA no offence!

Japanese Feastathon

My mates and I decided to go to the city at night on Friday to chill out a bit and enjoy some good food. Initially, we wanted to go Star City again, but obviously, time was jealous of us and would not let us go further than spending our time in feasting. If you guys do come to Sydney and wanna let yourselves wild on feasting Japanese cuisine, this one is really a good one, you can't call it perfect, but it's really worthy.


The you go, I think most people who are familiar with Sydney would know this restaurant, quite a number of my mates have visited the place, besides vegos (no offence!HaHa), I think the feedback is relatively good.





Well, the place is not really big, it's just a typical shop lot, offering heaps of goodies inside! Wait till you check out the things served...















As you can see...small place but constantly packed! We waited for some time that night, due to the fact that we did not place a booking earlier...Luckily the food is worthwhile the waiting!


Oh yea! I forgot to mention, the reason of the place being such a big hit is the fact that, it is buffet style! So you can eat as much as you can, and for those small eaters, sorry to say thism but it won't be worth it. Haha

A lot huh? There was actually even more! But I just couldn't be bother anymore, my hands and mouth was busy moving about grabbing food and consuming them that I totally forgot to take the pictures of the food... Briefly, there was salmon sashimi, red tuna and ebi sushi (and many others which I do not know their names, but tasted great!), mussels (fresh and big ones!), miso soup, udon, soba, dessert etc! I wish I took all of the picture so that they could talk for themselves, but apparently that is not the case...

Considering everyone's stomach was at the brink of bursting, we decided to take a small walk at Hyde Park before fetching the bus, check the memorial behind Joon Wayn and me, always wondered what it is, HaHa...


The other one is Lip Son with me with the scene of the waterfront opposite the memorial.



A memorable night! Everyone was satisfied with the food and we had a great time feasting! Check out the place if you have not done so!

Indonesian Night Market

Let's reinterpreate it, Indonesian Food Market? Hahaha, the event last night drew a huge crowd, with the visitors ranging from fellow Indons to asians and even whites! Yes, anyone would call it a success I think? Hahaha...

A couple of bands actually performed, each for for a short period, which continuosly drew attention of hundreds of people while they were eating while standing, talking to their mates etc. Ofcourse, these bands were the spotlights of cameras and video recorders, luckily not many people use film camera nowadays...

Hmm, everyone was busy buying queing up to get their own food, with the Indonesian taste ofcourse. The storeowners on the other hand was busy packing and attending customers, it was a hectic night, but everyone seem to be enjoying...

Now what's that queue of people up to? hmm...

Ahhah! SATAY!!! Indonesian style that is, no wonder...

There was really a lot of food, much of it which I do not know what are they called, though they had their names written on sign boards, wasn't much of my concern anyway, Haha! However, a lot of it is quite similar to what you would find back in Malaysia, like apam balik, kuih, goreng-gorengan, bakmi etc. Too bad my photography skills are not that up to standard to picture them all to post it here... Nevertheless, the function of food was and is always to draw peolpe to gather together...

Hence, let's look at the gathering of some familiar faces, haha...
